Here’s Why.

Pedestal was created by founders and board members of youth-serving nonprofits, just like you. Partnering with Pedestal allows us to provide you with critical, unrestricted funds. In addition, we’ll help you send your youth members onward into their futures, whether it’s continued schooling or professional training.

Here’s How.

Pedestal’s non-profit partners are responsible for distributing our scholarship applications among their members. All applications are marked with the name of the sponsoring organization, which will receive an additional stipend for every successful candidate they submit.

Next, we invite members of the Richmond community to judge the first round of applications. Following that, our board makes the final scholarship selections. At that point, we reveal the identities of every new Pedestal Scholar and their sponsoring organization; those organizations will receive an additional stipend for every successful candidate they submit.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you’re a nonprofit organization in the greater Richmond metro area serving youth who are planning to further their education and/or training, you are eligible to become one of our Partners.

  • We ask that you inform your youth membership about the opportunity of becoming a Pedestal Scholar, then distribute our application among those of your members applying to either an accredited four- or two-year college or university, a trade school, or an apprenticeship.

  • The benefits are threefold: first, Pedestal makes annual grants to support our nonprofit Partners; second, each Partner will receive an additional, significant grant for every application from your members we select as a Pedestal Scholar. The last benefit of partnering with Pedestal is to let us help you send your youth off into their brightest futures. You helped bring them this far; let’s see them off together.

  • None whatsoever. Use Pedestal funds to your best purpose.

  • Each of our Partners negotiates a Memorandum of Understanding with Pedestal. The terms of compensation, as well as mutual responsibilities, will be determined in that agreement.

  • Pedestal will send scholarship funds directly to each Pedestal Scholar’s institution of higher education. Partner grants will be made at the same time.

  • Yes. We’ll stay Partners as long as neither of us requests a renegotiation or cancellation of our agreement.
